SPWT is committed to ensuring that all students are provided with the highest quality of provision in lessons and their wider school life. Our Additional Educational Needs team supports students with special educational needs to ensure that they receive the appropriate support that they need to flourish as global citizens.

Nurture Group (Year 7 - 9)
Lead by a specialist SENCO trained teacher for students who come into secondary significantly below expected levels in literacy and numeracy and /or who need additional support with social and emotional needs.
Learning Support (Year 7 - 13)
Supporting students with SEMH and Physical Disabilities in a quiet supported area of the school, working alongside pastoral and curriculum teams to support students to integrate into mainstream lessons
The Ruth Miskin phonics intervention is a programme designed to teach students basic phonics in order to be able to read effectively.
Behaviour and Social Support
A specialist behaviour teacher works with targeted small groups or individual students.
A specialist literacy teacher working with small groups and individual students to develop their literacy skills and carry out further assessments to identify barriers to learning
Speech and Language Therapy
Special and Language therapist works alongside teachers and learning support assistants to put in place strategies to help students progress with communication difficulties.
