Our Year 12 students recently took part in an exciting Taster Day at Imperial College London, gaining valuable insight into university life and advanced scientific research.

The visit began with a guided campus tour, where students explored a range of facilities and experienced the atmosphere of a world leading institution. They visited key teaching spaces, independent study areas and social hubs, helping them to build a clearer picture of what studying at a research intensive university might involve.

This experience allowed students to begin imagining themselves in a higher education setting and reflect on their future ambitions.

A highlight of the day was the opportunity to attend two interactive workshops led by current PhD students. These sessions introduced students to cutting edge research across a variety of scientific fields, demonstrating how academic study can lead to real world impact. Students were able to engage directly with researchers, asking questions and gaining a deeper understanding of university level study.

During the workshops, students also explored three different types of robots, learning how robotics is applied in areas such as engineering, technology and innovation. Seeing these technologies up close was both inspiring and thought provoking, sparking curiosity and excitement about future developments in science.

Overall, the Taster Day provided a valuable opportunity for students to broaden their horizons, deepen their academic interests and build confidence in considering their next steps.
