Year 9 Students Develop Financial Skills at Barclays

Our Year 9 Students recently visited Barclays to take part in an engaging workshop focused on financial literacy and money management. The visit gave students the opportunity to develop practical life skills while learning about the importance of making informed financial decisions.

Throughout the session, students explored key topics including budgeting, saving, responsible spending and planning for the future. Through a range of interactive activities and discussions, they learned how everyday financial choices can have a lasting impact and why it is important to develop healthy money habits from an early age.

Students were encouraged to think about different financial situations and work together to make decisions based on realistic scenarios. These activities helped them understand how to balance income and spending, identify priorities and recognise the value of careful financial planning.

The workshop also highlighted the importance of understanding financial products and making choices that support long term goals.

The session provided students with valuable knowledge that they can apply both now and in the future. By developing a greater understanding of personal finance, students left feeling more confident about managing money responsibly and making informed decisions as they move towards adulthood.

Visits such as this help connect classroom learning with real life experiences, giving students practical skills that will support them throughout their education and beyond. We would like to thank Barclays for delivering such an informative and engaging workshop and for helping our students develop greater confidence in managing their finances.

This experience reflects our school value of Integrity. By encouraging students to make responsible decisions, manage money thoughtfully and consider the consequences of their financial choices, the workshop promoted honesty, accountability and the importance of making informed decisions that will benefit them throughout their lives.
