Our Year 10 students recently visited the University of Greenwich for an engaging and informative university experience day. The visit formed part of our school’s commitment to supporting students in exploring their future options and raising aspirations.

Students began their day with a guided campus tour, where they explored a range of university facilities and gained a valuable insight into life in higher education. Walking around the campus allowed students to visualise what studying at university could look like, prompting thoughtful conversations about their own ambitions and the steps they will need to take to achieve them.

Throughout the day, students participated in two interactive workshops designed to develop both personal and practical life skills.

The first workshop focused on self esteem and confidence. Students were encouraged to reflect on their strengths, challenge self doubt and consider strategies for building resilience. Through group discussion and practical activities, they explored how a positive mindset can support success both academically and personally.

The second workshop centred on financial literacy. Students learned about budgeting, managing money and the responsibilities that come with independent living. This session provided them with essential knowledge to help them make informed decisions in the future, particularly in preparation for university life.

Overall, the visit was a highly enriching experience. It helped students to build confidence, broaden their understanding of post sixteen pathways and develop important life skills that will support them beyond secondary education.

This trip strongly reflects our school value of Aspiration, as students were encouraged to think about their future goals and consider university as a realistic and achievable pathway, motivating them to aim high and take purposeful steps towards their ambitions.
