Recently our Year 9 students showcased their creative talent in an exciting series of promenade performances titled Through the Screen. Families, staff and invited guests were guided from room to room to experience four very different short pieces inspired by well-known stories and settings. 

The first performance, Adolescence, explored the challenges and emotions that young people often face as they grow and learn more about themselves.  

The next piece, The Office, brought the audience into a lively workplace setting where students delivered clever scenes filled with humour and sharp observation.  

Stranger Things followed with an atmospheric and imaginative sequence that drew on the popular series while allowing students to bring their own ideas to the stage.  

Finally, The Hunger Games offered a dramatic and tense interpretation that impressed the audience with strong character work and confident delivery. 

After the promenade performances, guests gathered in the Willoughby Theatre for a presentation led by the music and drama teaching team. They spoke passionately about the value of studying a GCSE art subject and how it can help students build essential life skills.  

Current GCSE drama and music students shared their experiences, explaining how their subjects have boosted their confidence, developed their ability to speak in front of others, and strengthened their teamwork skills. 

The audience was extremely impressed by the dedication and enthusiasm shown by every student. Many stepped in for classmates who were absent and handled the responsibility with maturity and pride.  

The event was a complete success and truly highlighted the creative spirit of our school community.
