A few words from Year 12 Sylia Arcino, winner of the Worshipful Company of Painters Strainers Schools Prize. The award ceremony and exhibition took place on 31/03/23 at the Painter’ Hall.
“I won the Painters Strainers Schools Prize and I cannot thank everyone who supported me enough, from my teachers to my friends and family. This was an amazing experience as I got to meet master painters such as Jamie Clover. We talked about my work and the inspiration behind it. He said he liked the contrast between the dark background and the bright colours of the portrait, ‘the eye is captivating and it’s like she's watching me’ this was a well appreciated compliment for my work. Thank you”
