Our School had a world-class and unforgettable treat this term as the internationally renowned National Theatre came to our school to perform. It was truly a new cutting-edge experience for the students!

It’s not every day that one of the country’s leading theatres takes its show into a school setting, and this was an experience unlike any.

The play transported students to a post-apocalyptic world where androids had ravaged the earth and humans were struggling for survival. It follows the emotional and action-filled journey of a child who discovers an android arm left by her mother.

It was a performance emphasising the seriousness of friendship, betrayal, loss, and survival.

The child developed various relationships along the way, all of whom struggled to find their own belonging and safety in their dangerous world.

With a great employment of props, puppetry, humour and audience interaction, students were drawn into the action and emotional scenes of the play.

The actors used creative ways to include the audience, and to top it off they had a puppet that would, comically, ‘fart’ whenever a lie was spoken.

The play addressed difficult issues of family, loss, trust and identity in a way that was engaging and thought-provoking.

This production was more than a spectacle, it was a profound cultural and educational experience offering our students direct access to professional theatre and encouraging critical thinking.
