This week, we were delighted to host a series of open mornings and evenings at SPW, welcoming both local primary schools and parents to experience first-hand the heart of our school. The events offered an exciting opportunity for families to explore the school’s vibrant culture, meet dedicated staff, and witness our students actively engaging in their learning.

Upon arrival, parents and children were greeted by a Sixth Form student playing the piano, setting the tone for a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Families were then divided into small groups for a comprehensive tour of the school, led by our enthusiastic student representatives. These tours took participants across key areas, such as our library, classrooms, and subject-specific displays.

A highlight of the morning was the mini displays in the school’s central area, where teachers provided insights into the curriculum and demonstrated how our students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning.

Student representatives shared how they are given freedom to complete tasks creatively and even bring projects home, reinforcing the hands-on, personalised approach to education at SPW. The science department delivered an impressive live demonstration, highlighting the outstanding work and innovation you can expect from our science faculty.

The event was more than just a tour. Our students, like Amin Mannan (Year 9), and Asha Ali and Ibrahim Rashid (Year 13), spoke passionately about their experiences at SPW, touching on everything from student council participation to the opportunity to meet international students and exchange cultures, made possible through our partnerships with organisations like the Global Schools Alliance. Asha and Ibrahim’s message particularly resonated with the theme of aspiration, encouraging prospective students to aim high and embrace the opportunities available at SPW.

As part of the United Schools Trust (UST), we are able to offer students the benefits of collaborative relationships with universities and a strong network of support. Our commitment to providing a well-rounded education is reflected in the numerous extracurricular activities available, including specialised coaching in basketball and tennis, which enhances the overall student experience.

At SPW, we pride ourselves on fostering a community that supports every individual in reaching their full potential. These open mornings and evenings were not only an opportunity for parents to see learning in action but also for them to witness how our values of community and aspiration shape the student journey at SPW.
