This term our students had a thrilling outing to the HSBC Innovation Centre in Canary Wharf where they experienced a visit that introduced them to coding, creativity, and technology in a motivational setting.

The workshop led them into the realm of programming using the Imagi app on iPads, where they were taught to program shapes.

The class started with a simple exercise: the drawing of a heart shape. After they had mastered that, they proceeded to colour it and experiment with shapes.

Along the way, they were introduced to functions (programming fundamentals) and discovered that a function has a header and a body.

Faiyan a Year 6 student, said, “I learned how to modify each pixel's colours. I really enjoyed it here!”

Aside from coding, the workshop offered us the experience of a lifetime… using new technology! The students were absolutely ecstatic when they finally got to use the VR headsets.

Maryam a Year 5 student, said, “I never tried VR in my life, I enjoyed this experience, it was so much fun.”

Not only did this interactive workshop introduce coding fundamentals to our students, but it also aligned with our vision for innovative learning.

With STEAM subjects being dealt with in this interactive environment, this session has ignited the students with a renewed passion for technology and programming!
