This year we organised a Iftar event, completely stepping up our game this second time round. The environment was breathtaking, with lovely decorations and a beautiful balloon entrance.

The student planning committee chose a sage green and gold colour theme, symbolising the beauty of Jumu'ah and the colours of paradise! Truly a huge step up from last year.

A huge congratulations to the committee members, Zayd Sarkar, Mahjabin Rubayat, Sayied Ahmed, Ruslan Khok, Maisha Uddin, and Safiyah for showcasing exceptional commitment and leadership.

A special thank you as well to our dedicated staff Mr. Uddin, Mr. Ahmed, Ms. Nur, and Ms. O'Flaherty whose support helped make the event warm and welcoming. Their collective efforts truly embodied the spirit of our school community.

The evening began with various heartfelt empowering speeches. One of which was by a student leader on the real essence of Ramadan, she emphasised the importance of honesty and self-betterment.

We then had a fantastic live act with drumming and singing from our Year 9 and 10 students, something they’ll cherish for a lifetime.

There were various other events lined up for the evening. One of which being a mesmerising reading of the Qur'an by Yousef, a profound poem by Zainab, and a lovely speech by our Year 10 student Maryum Omar.

She’s a recent winner of the Jack Petchey Speak Out competition. She spoke about the importance of accepting identity, this especially resonated with those in attendance.

The event ended with prayer, then a delicious dinner and pudding, with students taking that step further, by making and selling mojitos in an attempt to raise money for the Forgotten Women Charity.

It’s been more than just an event, it was a celebration of unity, bringing together students and teachers from diverse backgrounds as one community. With proceeds supporting the Forgotten Women charity, this Iftar was not only a moment of togetherness but also a powerful act of giving back.

We look forward to hosting more Iftars in the future, this event is quickly becoming a cherished tradition, bringing together the St Paul’s Way community in a special way.
