Pupils from St Paul’s Way Primary School recently enjoyed an exciting educational visit to the Cutty Sark in Greenwich, where they explored the fascinating history of the global trading and life at sea.

The Cutty Sark, one of the world’s most famous historic sailing ships, provided pupils with a unique opportunity to step back in time and learn about how goods were transported across the globe during the 19th century.

As they walked beneath the ship’s impressive hull and explored the decks, pupils discovered how sailors travelled vast distances to bring products such as tea, wool and spices from different countries to Britain.

Throughout the visit, pupils took part in interactive activities and engaging discussions that helped them understand the importance of international trade and how it has shaped the modern world.

They learned about the challenges faced by sailors during long voyages, including harsh weather conditions and months spent away from home.

The experience also highlighted the connections between different countries and cultures through trade, helping pupils develop a greater understanding of global history.

The trip brought classroom learning to life, allowing pupils to ask questions, investigate historical artefacts and gain first-hand insight into an important part of Britain’s maritime heritage.

Their enthusiasm and curiosity were evident throughout the day as they explored one of London’s most iconic landmarks.
