Just before the Christmas break, SPWT had the pleasure of receiving a visit from Sir Michael Wilshaw, Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Education, who came to launch the 2013 National Ofsted report.

The event was filmed and reported by all the major TV channels and a number of national newspapers, with BBC, Sky and ITV press teams following the visit step by step.

Sir Michael was warmly welcomed by Headteacher Grahame Price, Chair of Trustees Professor Philip Ogden and our pupils, who were very excited about the event.

Sir Michael went out of his way to spend time talking with the pupils despite his tight schedule.

Sir Michael Wilshaw visited Maths, Latin and Chemistry classes and posed some surprise questions to the pupils, which they promptly and impressively answered. SPWT school council members also had the opportunity to meet with Sir Michael.

Staff and students were thrilled to welcome the Head of Ofsted to our school.

Following the visit, we were delighted to receive a lovely letter of thanks from Sir Michael - Click to read
