This faculty supports students who have English as an Additional Language (EAL) or students who have worked in Learning Support or the Deaf Support Base (DSB) during Y7-9.
If you choose the Curriculum Support option, you will have:
- Small group teaching
- Time to catch up on missed work
- Additional attention and help
- Time to consolidate what you have learnt in your GCSE lessons
- Extra time in exams
In these lessons you will be taught in small groups so that you get extra practice with speaking, listening, reading and writing in English. You also have the opportunity to take extra exam courses – English Functional Skills Levels 1-3 and also the Edexcel English Language Certificate. In addition, we will provide extra support for your work in your other GCSE subjects. If you speak another language that you not study at school, you may also choose to take an additional qualification in this.
These lessons are taken by DSB staff who will also support you in GCSE lessons. The aim of these sessions is to re-enforce work covered in your GCSE classes and to teach forthcoming topics. This will ensure that you fully understand the work, keep up-to-date and can access extra help when you need it.
These lessons are taken by members of the Learning Support team who will also help you in your GCSE lessons. The aim of the sessions is to re-enforce the work covered in your subject classes and to prepare you for forthcoming topics.
